Welcome to the 8th grade and Room 304! I am really looking forward to working with you and your student this year.
Below you will find some helpful information.
TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More)
Teamwork, cooperation and collaboration are "21st Century Skills" that will be the foundation for our success. In room 304, we will work to create an atmosphere where all are respected and valued. Our classroom rules are in place to support our learning and are simple:
1. Come to class ready to learn: bring homework, supplies and a positive attitude!
2. Respect the rights and property of others.
3. Ask for help when needed & offer help to others.
4. Try to always act responsibly.
Homework
Homework will be an important part of your child's learning this year. The homework is designed to reinforce skills that have already been taught in class and to provide practice. Please let your child complete homework independently, but PLEASE monitor to make sure that the assignments are complete each night. Homework should be written in your student's assignment notebook AND will also be listed on this website under the homework tab. I usually do NOT assign homework on Fridays (unless there is a project). Your student should be reading at least 15-20 minutes on the weekends and may also do IXL or Myon from home on your computer. If you have any questions or concerns, please notify me immediately. I VALUE your feedback!
Communication
Open communication between teacher, parents, and students is crucial. This website will be filled with the most up-to-date information about class activities, learning goals, and special projects. Here you will find links to BrainPOP and Think Central where one may access all of the Harcourt Reading, Math, and Science materials. You will also find a tab for announcements such as upcoming field trips, CAC Projects or requests for Parent Volunteers.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at [email protected] or by phone between the hours of 7:30-3:00 at
773-534-5840. Thank you in advance for all of your support at home. I look forward to teaching your child and working with you to help your child achieve their fullest potential!
